Congratulations to all my new Mama’s out there! You are experiencing one of the most phenomenal times in a woman’s life. Giving birth to your beautiful bundle, and baby’s first year is such an incredible time of learning, growing and indescribable LOVE. Enjoy every moment of it. Don’t spend your days stressing over your weight gain. You will get to where you want to be with consistency , time and determination.
My Top 15 Tips to Lose Baby Fat
*Your joints are much more susceptible to injury post pregnancy, so start back slowly to avoid injury .
*Nurse your baby. Breast-feeding speeds up weight loss and triggers uterine contractions that help bring your tummy back down.
* Maintain a clean diet, but be sure to eat enough. Breast-feeding and recovery require additional caloric intake
*Drink at least 4 litres of water per day, more if you are breast-feeding
*Get proper rest (well as much as you can with a newborn )
*Plan and prepare your meals in bulk so you aren’t stressing over making each meal from scratch every day.
*Instead of watching TV, go for a 20 minute walk.
*Don’t buy unhealthy snack that will only tempt you. Instead, stock up on fruit, veggies and wholesome snacks.
*Don’t go more than 3-1/2 hours without eating.
*Maintain proper portions when eating. A good measure would be the approximate size of your palm for each food group.
*Eat whole grains and avoid processed foods
*Get into the habit of standing/sitting up straight and contracting your abs throughout the day
*Incorporate a high quality multivitamin- such as Usana’s Essentials and Healthpak, as well as a EFA’s (Essential fatty acids) and Omega’s. Natural sources include, flax, salmon and avocado.
*Have a picture of yourself or of someone who’s physique that you aspire to, posted in a place that you see frequently throughout the day
*Invest in a good jogger stroller/bike trailer so you can get out there with your little one and enjoy the outdoors.
